Great for an ELECTRIC grill
Before I get into this review, we have to understand the product we are looking at: a George Foreman ELECTRIC grill. George Foreman products are essentially useful variations of hotplates. In this case, the hot plate takes the form of a grill (with a stand, a dome cover, a large cooking surface with raised grooves etc...).That being said, this product caters to people (me) willing to try a product that is not a traditional charcoal grill, could be useful in smaller spaces/porches, looks like it is easy to use and clean up, could potentially cut some fat (never hurts, right?), and seems like it will work well as a good back-up grill or a quick solution to throwing mini-bbqs requiring even heat distribution without the hassle of buying/lighting/dumping coal. Originally I saw my mother's George Forman grill (smaller indoor one with lid). Then I saw my brother's Party Size grill. Both of them love their grill. I was able to taste the food from both and found it very tasty and easy to use. I decided to do some investigating on my own intending to purchase the party size grill, when I saw the indoor/outdoor grill. I was impressed with the fact that it appeared to be a bigger cooking surface and the price I found was within reason. I purchased it for the purpose of using it as an extra grill for a cookout I was having. No one used the gas grill at all. I have since used it indoors without the stand, making it convient on rainy days. It is the easiest grill to use and clean that we have ever owned. You can cook everything evenly, because there are no coals to level out. It can easily hold 4 to 5 steaks, 10 big hamburgers, and the list goes one. George is right. It actually does what he claims it will do!
I bought this grill 4 months ago and have used it several times per week ever since. I am a very lazy cook with 3 hungry teens and a hubby who eats like he's a heavyweight boxer. So, I needed something that would cook and clean-up as easily as possible. I can turn on the grill (it has an adjustable thermostat), take out a package of frozen chicken, hamburger patties, whatever, prepare it as usual, and the grill is ready to go to work. Dinner is on the table in no time. Its non-stick surface is just that, making clean-up simple and quick.I am quite happy with the surface area, as I can easily fit 8 large burgers on at once. I live in the frozen north, so the fact that this grill will also work indoors is plus.It's portable, reliable, easy to use and clean, and a bargain compared to other outdoor grills.George put his name on a very good product.Update: I have owned this grill for 2 1/2 years now and it still works like new!

Grilling really can't get much easier than this. After assembling the grill (which takes only a few minutes), simply plug it in and allow about 10 minutes to fully preheat the surface while you gather your steaks, kebabs, or whatever's to be grilled. The electric heat has an adjustable range from low (for keeping food warm) to high (for searing steaks). The nonstick grill surface not only means you can use a minimum of added fat, but it also makes cleanup a cinch. The surface has a subtle slope, with channels that draw accumulated fat or other liquids into a tray just below the surface. The high domed and vented lid helps create a circular flow of hot air to ensure even cooking--particularly important for a large roast or whole chicken.

The grill can be placed either directly on a tabletop or atop its pedestal. On its own, the grill surface stands about 6 inches high; with the pedestal, it stands about 2-1/2 feet high, not counting the domed lid. A staple on the countertop. Love the next gen Foreman!
We recieved this as a wedding present a back in August. This unit was actually diffrent than the one we had on our registry but WOW we love this one. The washable grill plates are really cool and easy to clean. I will say we dont wash them in the dishwasher much. But to remove the plates and take them to sink to clean is super convienent vs. hauling the whole unit to the sink and trying not to get it too wet or cleaning it on the counter with a washcloth or papertowels. I HIGHly recommend getting the removeable plates. They sell replacement plates online which is great. My previous Foremans would always wear the nonsticks first but this unit you can replace them.Keep the reciept on it as well. I have had 0 electrical problems with any of mine but I have read some have. The quality of this foreman is VERY GOOD except the buttons feel a little cheapish (but better than most)some of the lesser models are not so well built.

Beware of Dishwasher safe!! It isnt that great!
I got this based on the fact that you can put the grill plates in the dishwasher, HOWEVER, beware, they oxidize in the dishwasher. Meaning the back of the cooking plates, turn blak and wipe off on your towels, hands, ect. I called the manufactor and said this is normal, and i shouldnt wash them in the dishwaher very often. So much for convience!Other than that problem, it cooks awesome! I loved the temp control and timer. Great Features!! Plus it held 6 burgers!I would buy this again, but would never put it my dishwasher.I will always wash by hand.

Still a classic...
What did we do before George came along??This was a replacement grill for Mom.... she burned up the cord on the old one (totally her fault) or that one would still be going! This one is VERY SMALL. Two boneless pork chops, two hamburgers if they are small, four slices of bacon, a few dogs, or maybe two pieces of fish. My hubby and I find this too small for us but perfect for one. It is good and hot unlike some of the in-between sizes that never quite heated up enough.For one person or a dorm room (or if allowed) it's great!Our favorite tip - after taking your food off and UNPLUGGING - soak a paper towel with water and place it inside the grill. When you finish eating, add a bit more water and clean up should be a breeze.

Inexpensive, small, portable for traveling to parties (along with mymini frydaddy deep fryer), intended for one big hamburger or steak or2-3 chicken breasts. Heats up fast, 1 minute. Easy clean up (useplastic spatulas, metal will scratch teflon).When I ordered, I assumed this was a standard size and did not knowit was mini version - look at the dimensions - but I'm an individualso this is perfect for me. When I have guests over, I can grill 5+hamburgers separately in < 30 minutes.

Just right got the person living alone or maybe a busy couple
I've had a several variations on the small George Foreman grills. I have literally worn most of them out, and they last well when taken care of! I use them a LOT. They are great when making a meal in the summer. It doesn't noticably heat the room like the broiler in the oven and I think it uses much less power all year round.I cooked steak, lamb, pork, chicken, salmon, tuna, cod, haddock, bluefish, trout, and a bunch of stuff that just isn't coming immediately to mind. It was all great. The biggest danger is over-cooking because it's so fast and cooks from both sides at once.The tilted design is great to get rid of grease and the nice hot plates sear the surface to seal in jucices and flavor. With fish I like to use a very light coating of Mayo which seems to help make pink and white fish even more delectibly most and tasty. With steak and meats the grill works great with rubs and spices. I really like the paul prudome "magic" line of spices. Yum! Even cooking...

FABULOUS!
When our small original George Forman gave out I bit the bullet, and decided to spend the money on one with more bells and whistles. GREAT DECISION! My husband uses this almost every day to make a burger, chicken breast, etc. I used it tonight, to make fabulous Tilapia filets which took no time and almost no effort (sprinkle w/ Emril's seasoning and grill for five minutes). THE BEST PART.... REMOVABLE GRILL PLATES! I've put these in the dishwasher and washed by hand. No problem and worlds better than the old model with the fixed plates. I'll use this appliance even more now that clean up is no longer a chore!

Easy cleanup but should get hotter
We bought this model after dropping and breaking our ($[...]) George Foreman "Champ" grill.Pros:- The removable grilling plates come off and go on easily, and cleaning them in the sink or dishwasher is a breeze. The base unit doesn't even get dirty!- Non-stick grilling plates are sufficiently large to cook hamburgers for three or four people.- Fat drips into the provided tray with no leaking out the back or sides.- Floating hinges allow varying thicknesses of food to be held tight on the top and bottom.- Total time to cook, once unit is fully heated, is faster than broiling the burgers in our electric oven and the grill uses far less power.- Light enough to hold with one hand, for easy storing.- Unit lacks a thermometer and temperature control, neither of which is needed for most things. Works well for me!
I'm a college girl just getting into cooking, and I've made salmon, burgers, and even bacon on this grill. Having someone say "This salmon was seared perfectly!" the first time you've ever made it is a great feeling! You really can't mess up with this thing.Pros: The removable plates make clean up pretty easy. My burgers come out perfect every time.Cons: I wouldn't call this non stick. Everything you make leaves something on the grill, and you really need to get scrubbing to get it off the hot plates when you're done (I find scrubbing the grime off the plates when it's hot is a lot easier than waiting for it to cool). Great panini maker
This'll make a couple of hamburgers, a couple of chicken legs or two standard-sized sandwiches (which is English for panini) at the same time. With the adjustable lid set up, it'll make open-faced sandwiches. It's not so great at grilling steaks (the upper element doesn't get hot enough) but for a quick burger, it can't be beat. The non-stick surface is a treat (try to clean it before it cools all the way; it's a little easier that way).

Perfect for two people
I replaced an older Foreman model of the same size and reviews of this model helped me determine that this was the size I wanted. The old one I got rid of had the bun warmer on top, which was mainly inconvenient, not only because I never used it, but it was the first thing to break (every time I opened the grill the bun warmer lid would flip open). I love that this grill takes up little counter space but holds a decent amount of food and that there's no bun warmer. It heats quickly, maintains temperature well and holds two large burgers or five real sausages (not breakfast links - it would probably do 10-12 of those at a time) or six hot dogs. I don't cook chicken on it, but it would probably cook 2-3 chicken breasts, depending on size. For clean-up, I wait for the grill to cool down and then wipe down the top and bottom grill plates with a couple of paper towels. Then it's perfectly clean and ready to heat up for the next use. I realized how much we love this thing when we lived...
